The MSU Texas FSAE Racing Team
In April 2021, a group of MSU engineering students shared our dream of starting a program that would help students a head start in their professional careers by building a real-life race car. We were a team starting from nothing, working out of a campus garage, acquiring tools, materials, and travel funds for the competition. Our team worked against the odds—most teams in their first year do not complete a car, and even fewer take that car to competition.
In May of 2022, that dream was realized when we traveled to Michigan International Speedway to showcase our vehicle as part of SAE International's Collegiate Design Series.
Why donations are necessary...
Despite facing numerous challenges, including financial constraints that led us to make MR-02 a two-year project targeting 2024 instead of 2023, we have poured our hearts and souls into our current car. This setback, however, has been mitigated significantly due to generous alumni sponsorship, propelling our progress further than anticipated. We have dedicated countless hours in the garage, brainstorming innovative solutions and meticulously designing each component.
To achieve our goals this season, we seek your support as we transition from the design phase to sourcing and manufacturing parts for MR-02, our second-year car. Mustangs Formula Racing is a team of passionate engineering students from Midwestern State University, committed to pushing the boundaries of motorsports. Our eyes are set on the Formula SAE competition, aiming to build a race car that surpasses our previous model (MR-01) in every aspect.
Students of the MSU Texas FSAE gain invaluable practical engineering experience, stand out in the job market, and often become outstanding engineers, project managers, and inventors. After our debut competition in May, MSU Texas Formula SAE embarked on our next vehicle's research and development phase, aiming for a grand showcase in 2024.
