Description
With over 790 chapters and 21,000+ active members, the National Society of
Black Engineers (NSBE) is one of the largest student-governed organizations in
the U.S. We are committed to empowering students to excel academically, succeed
professionally, and make a positive impact on their communities in alignment
with NSBE’s mission: "to increase the number of culturally responsible
Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively
impact the community." At Midwestern State University, our chapter
includes a diverse group of students from various engineering and STEM
disciplines who come together weekly to support one another and engage in
academic, professional, and personal development.

The MSU Texas NSBE chapter actively contributes to the campus community by
promoting professional growth, fostering Black excellence, and building a
supportive network for students. Signature events include resume and LinkedIn
workshops, mock interviews, community networking events, and headshot sessions
to help members prepare for their careers. We also host social events like game
nights and movie nights to cultivate a sense of community and balance between
academic and social engagement.
By supporting MSU Texas NSBE, you’re investing in the future of Black engineers who are committed to academic and professional excellence, cultural responsibility, and community impact.

Why are donations necessary?
We are currently raising funds to support our members’ attendance at the
NSBE Annual Convention, held this year in Chicago, Illinois. This convention is
a unique opportunity for our members to gain academic insights, refine their
professional skills, and engage with hundreds of companies and recruiters. Many
attendees secure interviews, internships, and job offers as a result. However,
the cost of flights, accommodations, transportation, and registration fees is
significant. By covering these expenses, we aim to make this convention
accessible to as many MSU Texas NSBE members as possible.
In preparation, our weekly meetings focus on developing essential
professional skills. We host workshops on creating competitive resumes,
crafting effective elevator pitches, optimizing LinkedIn profiles, preparing
for interviews, and building confidence and public speaking skills. Funds
raised will also help support these preparatory workshops.
